2024-2025 ACLP Board of Directors Application

The ACLP Board of Directors is seeking four positions for the 2024-2025 Board. The four open positions are President-Elect, Secretary, and (2) Directors. Any interested applicant is strongly encouraged to review the complete Board of Director's position descriptions and qualifications prior to applying. 

ACLP will be accepting applications for the 2024-2025 Board of Directors starting on September 5, 2023.

The ACLP Board of Directors application is online and includes the following required components:

  • Candidate Self-Assessment
  • Resume or Curriculum Vitae (CV)
  • ACLP Conflict of Interest Form 
  • Board Composition Matrix Form
  • One professional letter of recommendation from a supervisor/professional. Must come from a person other than the supervisor completing the Supervisor Approval form.

Criteria to Apply:

Requirements to Apply for a Board Position:

  • Demonstrates leadership commitment and involvement with ACLP and the child life community. Examples include but are not limited to service on an ACLP committee, the ACLP Board of Directors, the Child Life Certification Commission (CLCC), a task force, or regional group as well as comparable service with another organization.
  • Active ACLP membership in good standing.
  • Active Certified Child Life Specialist (CCLS) credential.
  • Thinks strategically and analytically and to effectively communicate thoughts and rationale.
  • Works well with others as a member of a collaborative group with group decision-making authority and an understanding of the fiduciary duties of loyalty, care, and obedience.

Additionally, based on the board matrix, the following criteria will be prioritized for the upcoming applications in order to maintain the most diverse representation on the board as possible:

  • CCLS with 6-15 years of experience
  • Male, non-binary/non-gender conforming
  • Racial diversity
  • Southeast United States Region  
  • CCLS from small programs or one-person programs
  • Child life director (child life program leader at the director level)

Debunking the myths of volunteer board service:

  • No formal leadership position in a professional role is required to be eligible for any board position.
  • The "Director" role does NOT mean the individual must currently hold a "Director/Manager/Supervisor" job title
  • Previous board experience is NOT required. It is highly preferred for the President-Elect position.
  • No accounting or finance degree is necessary for the Treasurer position

Nominate an Individual for the ACLP Board of Directors

Individuals may also put forth the name of a qualified candidate to nominate for a board position.
